Q:
What makes PreFlight qualified to help me with a negotiation?
A: PreFlight
staff have helped hundreds of entrepreneurs with practical
business help and have conducted over 50 negotiations on licensing,
M&A, corporate partnering, and fundraising. From introductions
to term sheets, we coach you every step of the way to increase
the likelihood that a deal takes place and to ensure that
it meets your criteria for success.
Q:
How is PreFlight different from other deal makers and brokers?
A: Deals
are not driven by technology, businesses, or markets – they
are driven by people. PreFlight knows the art of dealmaking,
and better yet, the art of coaching. We want to develop a
personal relationship with you and work with you step by step
to craft a win-win deal for everyone.
Q:
How does PreFlight get paid?
A: PreFlight
is flexible in crafting custom compensation packages for each
customer. For some, we work on a 100% contingency basis so
that we get paid when you get paid. More often, we develop
a hybrid plan where we are paid a small retainer in conjunction
with upside payment through stock options.
Q:
Why do I need negotiation assistance if I already have an
interested party identified?
A: Have
you negotiated deals before? Have you dealt with corporate
attorneys and business development executives? Do you have
experience with term sheets, milestone strategy, trigger sets,
first rights of refusal, indemnification clauses, and all
the other details behind a negotiation? If you want a seasoned
advocate in your corner to help guard your interests and make
a deal happen, then work with PreFlight Ventures.
Q: Why do I need PreFlight’s help since
I am the expert behind the technology?
A: Technical expertise
is pivotal behind most technology-based businesses – but it
is not enough to make a deal happen. Countless businesses
fail that have the “best” technology, but fail in areas of
business strategy, marketing, fundraising, or partnering.
Don’t try to do it alone – get seasoned business help to drive
you towards dealmaking so that you make money on your technology.
Q: Can PreFlight help write my business
plan or help with due diligence & competitive intelligence
gathering?
A: PreFlight professionals
certainly have the expertise required to develop business
plans and conduct due diligence. However, PreFlight’s mission
is to help entrepreneurs do deals and conduct workshops. Generally,
we only get involved with business planning and due diligence
as it relates to dealmaking. However, we welcome the chance
to network with you and can often point you to reputable resources.
Q: I want to
sell my business, but I have not found an interested party
yet – can I still work with PreFlight?
A: PreFlight welcomes
the opportunity to network with you and exchange an e-mail
or phone call about your business. Generally, we do not take
on customers exclusively to help with “fishing” for potential
licensees, acquirers, or partners. We welcome the opportunity
to give you tips on how to search for interested parties on
your own until you are ready for PreFlight.
